The Good: I had a wonderful day with lots of great things happening! My husband had his swearing in ceremony with RCSD and now is a sworn deputy! We are so excited about this new journey in our lives! I also hit my 30lb loss mark! Woo Hoo! I honestly cannot believe 30lbs are gone! Slow and steady with lots of great choices has helped me accomplish this goal so far. I am hoping to hit 50lbs lost by our anniversary which is April 18. It gives me a goal to reach and one that I hope to meet!
The Bad: I am so glad February is over! I have been so busy it has been ridiculous! I am looking forward to slowing down a little in March.
The Ugly: I need to work on lifting weights again so I can hopefully start toning up my upper arms before summer. They need it bad. :-/

First 5K Complete!
Today I completed my first 5K! What an awesome day and awesome feeling. I had so much fun walking with family and some of my closest friends. I ended up walking the whole way with my dad which was one of my favorite parts of it all. We both enjoyed the beautiful morning and walking across the finish line to complete our first 5K's together. The feeling of finishing the race was something I cannot explain. There were so many people at the end cheering everyone on to the finish line! An absolutely incredible feeling! I cannot wait to begin this new phase of my life...walking/running in races! I look forward to completing many, many more. :) Thank you to everyone who walked with us today! Yall were AMAZING!

Today is YOUR day!
"Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So... get on your way."
Dr. Seuss
"And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed."
Dr. Seuss
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose."
Dr. Seuss
A little Dr. Seuss to help you get back on track with your weightloss or fitness journey. :)
I recently read an article about how so many people wait for just the right time to start losing weight. The reality of this is that I was one of those people for so many years. I always thought, ok next week I will start with my diet or ok I just ate a really unhealthy breakfast so I will just count this day out and give up on my "diet" routine...not any more.
I have realized that there is not a "perfect" time to start losing weight. When I started back in December I knew the holidays were coming up but for once I didn't say, I will start after the holidays. Instead I changed my mindset and told myself that if I could make it through the holidays, I could make it through any other time of the year. Once I developed that kind of mindset, it helped me look at each meal and each day one at a time. If I had a high calorie meal for dinner, I just start back the next morning or if I messed up and ate an unhealthy breakfast, I just focused on fixing my day for lunch and dinner. When I started making small choices, it started to become easier to see that I don't have to waste a whole day if I accidently messed up.
So many people give up after they "think" they messed up when in reality they haven't messed everything up, just one small part of their day. It's just one meal on one day. Don't let that one meal mess up changing your life. Keep changing one or two things every day and before you know it your life and body will be changing right before your eyes.
I really want you to stop and think about waiting to start changing your life. If you wait until Monday, you just lost 3 days of change! Start tomorrow! Start tonight by cooking a meal at home instead of grabbing fast food. There is NO PERFECT TIME to start. There will always be obstacles but it is your decision to overcome them or let them overcome you. If you started changing your life and then fell off the wagon, get back on NOW! Change does not require a certain day or time. It requires commitment from you and a desire to become more than you could ever imagine!
Remember, if you continue to tell yourself that you will start tomorrow, it is very likely that tomorrow will never come. Start today...Today is YOUR day!! :)

February 24
The Good: I am looking forward to a fun weekend starting off with my first 5K! I have done a great job of eating within my calorie range so I feel like it has been a pretty good fit so far with what my BodyBugg came up with.
The Bad: For some reason this week I have not had the desire to push myself as hard as I did last week. I am still working out each day but last week it was all or nothing every workout. I am not sure why the change came about but maybe I needed a "down" week after last week. I hope I get myself back into the all or nothing mind frame next week!
The Ugly: Stress has me bogged down. Very ready to have a break soon...just need some time to breathe and relax.

Excited!
February 22
The Good: I got in a pretty good 2 mile workout in this afternoon before going to speak the education students at USC. I really enjoyed speaking tonight at their meeting and I love seeing how inspired they are to become wonderful teachers. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to share with them one of my passions. I also hit all of my daily targets on BodyBugg which was awesome! :) Progress should be in the making for this week.
The Bad: I did not get in my morning workout this morning. I had my alarm set for 5am and then snoozed for 10 minutes, got up, went to the bathroom and then decided to crawl back into bed. :( I just couldn't get myself to do it this morning. It probably is because I pushed myself so much last week and I knew I had a long day/night ahead of me. I was able to catch up some of it this afternoon and I met my daily calorie burned goal so it's all good.
The Ugly: I need to find time to slooooow down. I hope after this week, I can find some time to breathe! I am looking forward to that!

Incredible Chicken and White Bean Enchiladas
Melt in your mouth goodness is how I describe this delicious meal! My wonderful husband slaved over this incredible meal tonight while I was at my WW meeting. My little sister said she had tried this recipe a few weeks ago and loved it so I have been dying to try it! She did warn me that it does take some time and effort so I now warn you and tell you that it is not a quick and easy meal BUT it is sooo worth the effort you put into it! Just make sure you give yourself some time and you probably want to cook it on one of those days that you aren't stressed to the max. ;) Just a little advice. :) This would make a great weekend dinner and it makes plenty so it is also perfect for leftovers!
I got this recipe straight from Skinnytaste.com which I honestly think I use every day. Gina, who is the brain behind skinnytaste.com is absoutely amazing and extremely talented. I have not had a recipe of hers that has been bad! I look forward to EVERY recipe I make of hers because they are simple delicious and amazing. I have started a binder of recipes I print from Skinnytaste.com so I have easy access to them when I want to make them again.
Instead of typing the whole recipe out for you, I included the link to Gina's site so you can get it from there. :) Chicken and White Bean Enchiladas

The Good: I lost 3.2lbs this week! Woo Hoo! I was hoping to lose 4 this week but didn't quite make it. The great thing about it is that I am not depriving myself, I am only making good choices about what I eat and exercising 5-6 days out of the week. I put my goals into my BodyBugg website and it said that I should reach my goal in November! That is only 9 months away which make my whole weightloss journey less than 1 year!! It honestly blows my mind to think about it! I am looking forward to that day!! :) :) :)
I also was proud of myself today because I took my lunch to school instead of going to eat out with my coworkers/friends. It was VERY tempting because when you are a teacher, you never get to enjoy a nice lunch out with adults. I know that in a few months, I will be able to enjoy the lunch out with friends so right now I am staying focused which means, I bring my own meals. It ended up being just fine and I am so blessed to work with such a supportive group of coworkers and friends! They are extremely understanding and always cheer me on every day! Love yall!
The Bad: I sat in meetings all day and didn't get a chance to move much. I can definitely tell the days when I don't move much because I get very antsy and fidgety. I am waking up at 5am tomorrow morning to get a good workout in before school. I have to speak at USC tomorrow night so I hopefully will get in a quick workout tomorrow afternoon when I get home from school.
The Ugly: I am looking forward to this crazy, busy month of February to be over! I hope to have a little more time to myself in March and a little more time to create new recipes, try new things, and blog a little more about my journey. :)

I have had several requests for me to post meal ideas or a sample of what my daily food intake looks like. I try to keep it consistent so my body knows what to expect. I have listed a sample food log and a list of good foods I enjoy for certain meals. I hope they help! Please let me know if you have any questions about any of them or want to know where to find them! :)

The Good: I adore my Body Bugg!! I have been nothing but pleased with it the last 2 days. It is amazing how much information it gives you. Weight loss is pretty much a number game and the Body Bugg helps you track the numbers. I will say that I have heard that it can become obsessive studying all the numbers and I can say that the reviews I have read are correct about that. After logging in my food and uploading my data from my Body Bugg on how many steps I have taken and how many calories I have burned today, I was 120 calories short of meeting my exercise goal. Of course, I jumped on the treadmill tonight to burn those 120 calories off. This is a great motivator for me because it helps me realize what I need to do to meet my goals on a daily basis. I did very well on exercising today and I am looking forward to my "break" day tomorrow!
I ran further than I ever have today which was awesome. I ran a little over a mile today which was a huge goal for me. I pushed myself through it and kept reminding myself that the pain I was feeling in my legs was only temporary. I definitely think once you can get that mindset, you can push yourself a lot further because you know the pain will go away in a little while. :) Let's hope I can keep that mindset! :)
The Bad: I was trying to meet my daily calorie allowance because I was 250 calories away so I decided to treat myself to 4 pieces of dark chocolate. I used to think dark chocolate was bitter and I definitely could easily down a candy bar in a heart beat. Now, I only have 1 or 2 squares from the large chocolate bar at the end of the day to treat myself. Tonight, since I was 250 calories short of my goal, I decided to eat 4 squares and then an extra square to meet my goal. I was 20 calories shy of my goal but had a stomach ache after eating those 5 squares. I won't do that again! It is amazing how much my body has changed in 2 months!! I think I would go into a sugar shock if I ate a 'real' candy bar! No thanks!!
The Ugly: I can tell that I am waking up muscles that I haven't used in years because certain areas of my body hurt! It is a good thing but at the same time I have to be careful that I don't tear or pull any muscles.

Christmas in February!
Shawn and I literally almost couldn't stand the wait to get our new BodyBuggs in! We luckily just received our tax refund and paid off most of our bills. We decided that since we haven't treated ourselves to anything in the last year and a half that we would find something that we both wanted. We have been researching BodyBuggs for a while now and we both really wanted one but the price for both of us would have been way too much. Shawn happen to be searching around the other night and found an amazing BodyBugg deal: buy one get one free! We thought long and hard about the purchase and decided that it would be something that would help us on our new weight loss journey. We ordered them and tracked the package every day this week. We cannot wait to start using them and let you know what we learn from them. Knowledge is so powerful and we feel like this little BodyBugg will be able to provide us with an unbelievable amount of knowledge to help us continue to lose weight. Looking forward to our first day with it tomorrow! :)
Can you tell how excited we are?!
Can you tell how excited we are?!
1,000 Hits!
I want to thank everyone who reads my blog and keeps up with me on a daily basis. I cannot believe that I have had 1,000 hits since Sunday, February 6. Thank you for taking this journey with me!

February 17
The Good: I made it to 14,041 steps today!! This is the most I have ever taken! I really wanted to get over 11,000 and was able to do that today! Now my new goal is 15,000 steps! If I could have exercised a little while longer this morning I probably would have made it to 15,000. New goals always energize me!
The Bad: I cannot stop "munching" today. I felt like I have been hungry all day long. I think it is because I worked out this morning so I should have added a few more calories into my daily food intake because of that. I finally filled up after having a delicious dinner of Chicken Parmesan from Skinnytaste.com. :)
The Ugly: My ankle has been killing me today! I don't know what I have done to it but it has been throbbing all day. It doesn't really bother me when I work out with it but it really bothers me if it hasn't been moved in a while like first thing in the morning or if I have been sitting too long. I hope that it will heal up before next weekend's 5K!!

Two Months
I am so excited to say that I am two months into my weight loss life change and I feel awesome! I feel great and I know that I am well on my way to my life change. I want to post some things about this past month and I also want to add some new goals since I accomplished every one but one last month.
Today: February 15
Weight lost since December 15: 24lbs
Weight loss from January 15-February 15: 11.8lbs
Feelings: I honestly cannot tell you how wonderful it feels that I have lost 24 pounds. Absolutely amazing! I still feel amazing and don't have the mood swings that I used to feel. I also am more determined than ever to continue to eat healthier and move every day. I feel stronger than I have in a long time! I also look forward to exercise each day because it clears my head and helps me regain focus.
When I was walking tonight on my treadmill, I started to add weights to my cardio so I could work on strength training and cardio at the same time. When I looked over at my weight options, I noticed I had 2 10lb weights and 2 2lb weights. I started thinking that they totaled 24lbs together and that is how much I have lost in 2 months. I tried to lift them all while walking and I couldn't hardly hold them all. This was a great visual for me to realize that I was carrying all of that extra weight on my body every day. I am looking forward to adding another 10lb weight next month to my weight lost! :)
Goals for next month:
-lose another 10 pounds (or more)
-try to eat a vegetable during lunch and dinner
-continue to try new fruits and veggies
-complete my first 5K February 26
-continue to track my food intake on LiveStrong.com
-get my 25lb award at WW
-get my 10% award at WW
-exercise 6 days a week, twice a day on Saturday and Sundays
-enjoy one nice dinner this month without worrying about calories
Goals for next month (from January):
-Lose another 10 pounds (or more)
-Eat more vegetables
-Shop at the Farmer's Market
-Try 2 new veggies and 1 new fruit
-Plan a consistent exercise routine
-Practice my 5K walk on the January 26
-Receive my 5% lost award at Weight Watchers
-Continue to drink more water
-Log my food intake daily on Live Strong (Such an AWESOME site!)

-

-Shop at the Farmer's Market

The Good: I lost more weight this week for a total of 24lbs lost! Tomorrow is my 2 month mark so I am pretty excited! :) I also gave away all of my candy and chocolate that I got from my students today. I didn't want to but at the same time it isn't worth it to me. Seeing the number on the scale go down and feeling better is way better than a piece of chocolate!!
The Bad: I did eat a very small bite of a fruit/cookie cake one of my classroom mother's made today. I ended up picking off the strawberries and bananas. The cookie and icing part was way too sweet for me since I have tried to cut way back on sweets.
The Ugly: I am exhausted from today's Valentine's festivities at school. The kids are so much fun but after a whole day of craziness and excitement, I am exhausted.

The Good: I was able to get in double workouts today which was awesome. I felt really good doing both workouts. It was such a beautiful day outside and I also was able to soak up some Vitamin D! I enjoyed a nice afternoon reading a book on our front porch in the sun. Awesome Sunday!
The Bad: I indulged again tonight with a piece of my sister's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G coffee cheesecake. Yes, this is the same sister that made the delicious caramel cashew cheesecake for Christmas. She has a gift of making ridiculously delicious cheesecakes! I will have to say it was definitely the best cheesecake I have ever had! I only had a sliver which was great but it definitely felt very guilty especially since I have to weigh in tomorrow and I had a delicious dessert last night!
The Ugly: I haven't had much time to try out new recipes. I hope that I am over the hump of crazy weeks but I have a feeling that it isn't over yet. This week and next weekend are going to be jammed packed!

February 12
The Good: I actually have several good things to share today which is awesome! 1) I worked out TWICE today, one this morning and once this afternoon. I wanted to jump start my metabolism before eating dinner tonight with our friends. I have been preparing all week to have a wonderful time at dinner tonight because I knew it was going to be out of my comfort zone and calories but more on that in a minute. :) This morning I was SO proud of myself because I pushed it out and ran for a straight half-mile! I can tell my endurance has increased so much in the last two months it is honestly unbelievable. I will never forget the first few days I was on the treadmill. I could barely walk at a speed of 2.5 and could only walk for about 20 minutes before I felt like I couldn't walk any longer. I always reminded myself that this pain was only temporary and it would get easier each time I did it. I now can easily walk on 3.5 and have been adding intervals of running into my routine. It feels great! I told Shawn today that I cannot wait to lost 50 lbs so I can really feel like I can move!
2) When I was getting ready tonight to go to dinner I decided to try on a pair of my pants that I wore right before our wedding when I lost about 30 pounds and they fit! I didn't think they would but they did! :) I feel like I just got a new pair of pants. Very exciting! I am looking forward to wearing them for a few weeks and onto the next size down I go. :)
3) Dinner tonight was so much fun! I have been looking forward to this time with some of our best friends, Adam and Erin, who also happen to be our neighbors. Shawn and I are so blessed to have Adam and Erin as friends and neighbors. We constantly joke about how we will always have to live near each other and we often talk about how awesome it would be to have a lot of land somewhere and build our houses there far enough apart but close enough to keep each other company. :) Maybe one day we will be able to work our plans out. :) Adam and Erin invited us to eat at Cotton Grill tonight and we ate the most delicious meal. Erin and I both agreed that our favorite menu item tonight was the Brie and Blackberry tart. They were warm and melted in your mouth. So incredible! We hopefully will make our own rendition soon! Not only was the food wonderful, but time spent with Adam and Erin was even better. We had so much fun and look forward to enjoying more times together in the future.
The Bad: I know I went over my calorie count today but hopefully not by too much. I had saved up my calories today so I could splurge tonight and I also worked out twice so I hope I didn't go over too much. Even if I did, it was WELL worth it! I felt like it was a "treat" for sure and I was able to enjoy it without feeling too much guilt.
The Ugly: Is Saturday really already over? I tell you, weekends fly by so fast! I always feel like when I am finally able to relax and wind down from the week, it is time to start back over again.

February 10
The Good: Zumba rocked the house again tonight! I am going to have to find a way to do it more than once a week but I love taking it in a small atmosphere and I love our instructor! I wish it was at least twice a week..maybe they will make it twice a week if we start to have a larger class. Here's to hoping!! I honestly feel like it is a "treat" to go every week. I love how I feel afterward. I always leave with a clear mind which is an awesome way to start the weekend! :)
The Bad: I am still stuck on my 21 pound weight loss. I am trying to figure out why. I honestly think it is because I am not eating all of my calories. I dropped my calories down to 1500 which I didn't think I could eat and now I am not able to eat all of them. I am taking in even less because I am working out on top of not eating enough. I really think that is the reason why I am stuck. I am going to have to do some research and figure out something I can do like smoothies or protein shakes after my workouts to get those extra calories in.
The Ugly: I am exhausted. I really need to do better about getting to bed earlier. I want to start working out again in the morning so I really have to aim to go to sleep around 8:30 so I can get up at 5:00 and workout. Working out first thing in the morning really gets your metabolism going and your body starts to burn the stored fat in your body because it doesn't have anything else to burn off. When you exercise during the day, you are burning off the food you have taken in that day instead of the stored fat which is good but I am ready to get rid of both stored fat and daily fat intake! Hopefully I can try to do this next week. Last week and this week have been slapped full with meetings and things to do at school and after school so next week should be better and I should be able to go to sleep a little earlier.

Wordless Wednesday (almost)
My husband FINALLY got a job! Not only a job but he is entering into law enforcement which has been his dream since he was a little boy. A lot of prayer, frustration, faith, hope, and tears have gone on for the past year and a half for us. We are so blessed and thankful for this opportunity!! I wanted to share the news yesterday but wanted to get the "official" handshake from the Sheriff before announcing!! :)

February 8
The Good: Shawn and I received some awesome news today that I will share tomorrow once it is absolutely official. :) I also stuck to my new calorie goal which I was worried about but I ended up having calories left over tonight so I was able to eat some dark chocolate and that was without my exercise! I tried to stick to a lot of fruit and veggies to keep my calories low today.
The Bad: For some reason today, I could not motivate myself to give it my all during my workout with The 30 Day Shred. I have done it every day so far in February and this weekend I could tell it was getting easier but today I just couldn't get myself motivated to give it my all. I hope that will change tomorrow when I do it again!
The Ugly: I have really been doubting myself lately and I know it is a total mind game. I finally got past the 20 pounds, lost another pound last night at my WW meeting but I just feel "stuck" right now. I looked back at last week and realized I made some poor choices for meals. Nothing horrible because I have kicked all of the bad food out of our house but I was not eating my fruit and vegetable like I should have been. I started back this week trying to eat more fruits and veggies especially for snacks to fill in the times between meals. I hope this week I will be able to get out of whatever "funk" I am in and get back to feeling good.

My Mottoz Deal!
I wanted to share this deal with you all because My Mottoz has become one of my favorite places to shop for workout shirts. I came across this website when I saw a friend of mine wearing these shirts. I started looking on the website and fell in love with it! Two sisters started the company and they are very friendly and have amazing customer service.
I was looking for a shirt to wear for my first 5K coming up in a few weeks and decided to get one of these. All of their shirts come with inspirational quotes of your choice on them. I ended up getting a blue one with the quote, "enjoy the journey" on it because I felt like it described what I am doing right now with my life. I cannot wait to wear it on February 26!
Today, I received an email from them for a Valentine's day special lasting until tomorrow at 3pm. The offer is 50% off Men's and Women's mesh back short sleeve red shirts! All you have to do is add one of the red shirts with your quote of choice to the cart and use the code "lovefest" and you will receive 50% off! The ladies shirt ends up being $20 and the men's shirt ends up being $17.50 with only $3.00 shipping! Great deal! The shirts are really nice and are made of the dri-wick material that is perfect for exercising!

February 4
The Good: TGIF! I was so glad it is Friday so I can enjoy a few days relaxing around the house. I had put off my workout today because I was so exhausted after school but I knew I had a plan and I wasn't going to quit. I ended up completing day 4 of The 30 Day Shred AND 45 minutes of a Zumba Cardio video. I knew I wanted to do more than The 30 Day Shred because I felt like I haven't done enough exercise this week. I felt amazing afterwards and it reminded me why I love to exercise. :)
The Bad: I have struggled the last few days with eating within my calorie allowance. Fortunately, I have had 2 days of good exercise so I have been able to be over just a bit and it still be ok but I have really struggled with staying full this week. Maybe it is my metabolism kicking into gear or my body changing. We will see if it ends up going away, I hope so!
The Ugly: Shawn and I ate beef tacos tonight and we both felt sick to our stomachs afterwards. We cooked with lean ground beef from Publix but since we have been eating 95% chicken, we felt very weighed down. We both decided that next time we will make chicken tacos instead. Our bodies are really starting to let us know when the food we are feeding it is not nutritious enough for us.

February 3
The Good: Zumba was once again AMAZING tonight! I enjoyed it more tonight than I have before because we danced to a lot of "pop" songs so it made it a lot of fun to be able to dance to them and sing along. :) I always feel so refreshed and renewed after Zumba. My head is always a lot clearer when I am finished and after a very long day like I had today, it was MUCH needed!
The Bad: Since I have been extremely stressed out this week, I noticed yesterday that when I came home from school all I wanted to do was "snack." I wanted to eat everything in our kitchen but I ended up thinking it through and making some homemade popcorn. It is the little steps that lead to success, right? :)
The Ugly: I have fallen into a slump this week even though I have counted all of my calories and exercised every day. I feel like I am at a mental block right now because even though I have lost 20 pounds, I am starting to "doubt" myself that I can lose more. I told you I was going to be honest on here! :) I know that most of the slump has come from the stresses I have dealt with this week but I keep reminding myself that I CAN DO IT! I also think part of my problem has been that I haven't been able to exercise like I have wanted to this week because of so many meetings and other things I have been doing after school each day. It has made it difficult for me to get the exercise I normally get in every week. I am looking forward to relaxing a little this weekend and taking some good deep breaths to de-stress! :)

February 1
The Good: I had an overall good day that will end tonight with Biggest Loser. I also was very tired when I get home today because I went to sleep late last night but instead of taking a nap when I got home, I ate an early dinner and then did my first day of the 30 Day Shred!! Wow! I forgot how tough it was but it was a good push for me. I look forward to doing it all during the month of February! I am looking forward to seeing the results at the end! :)
Shawn also made my favorite meal, Taco Chicken Chili (recipe can be found on here). I have to admit, it is probably one of my most favorite meals now! I cannot imagine going a week without making this delicious and nutritious meal!
The Bad: I haven't been drinking as much water as I would like to because I don't get a bathroom break at school until 11:15. That makes a really long morning if I drink lots of water! I do need to get better about drinking water and hopefully my body will get used to it!
The Ugly: Continued stress. I will be glad when this week is over! I have a very busy February ahead of me but I keep taking it day by day which makes it a lot more manageable.
